In 1968 two families formed a new construction company.  The family-owned company continued to prosper for 11 years building bridges for INDOT and the surrounding counties.  The family-owned company grew with the addition of two more family owners in 1979.  For the next 20 years, Primco steadily built bridges with new and innovative processes and techniques.

In 1995 Primco started the concrete paving division with the purchase of a concrete paving spread.  Soon after, Primco purchased their first portable concrete plant. As with the bridge division, the concrete paving division grew, adding several more family owners.  As the paving division grew it was also a regional innovator.  Primco was the first concrete paver to run a rock hopper on the concrete paver for placing stone over geotextile fabric subbases.

With technology becoming increasingly prevalent, Primco was one of the first paving contractors in Indiana and in the region to use stringless paving on the concrete paving equipment.  In 2006, Primco grew the bridge division by acquiring the supervision, foreman, and skilled workers from Baker & Schultz, another locally based bridge contractor from Decatur, IN, that has the same core values as Primco. With the concrete paving division and the additional growth of the bridge division, Primco has been able to grow and expand their capabilities beyond building bridges.

Today, Primco still builds a small bridge, but can also build a complete highway corridor with bridges, concrete paving, stone, project management, and all the knowledge to get it done safely, successfully, and on time.
